Travel Safety Tips
Many of you will be getting behind the wheel and heading off to visit family and friends both far and near during the coming holiday weekends. Our team at Desert Car Care McQueen wants to be sure your vehicle is ready and you arrive safely to the homes of your loved ones. To make that happen, we’ve created our S.A.F.E. plan to help you prepare for traveling during heavy traffic and possibly poor weather and road conditions.
First, we focus on safety. To ensure your vehicle is road worthy, we encourage you to have a full safety inspection by a trusted mechanic a few days before your scheduled trip. The safety inspection should include tires, tread, fluid levels, windshield wipers, brakes and steering systems, as well as the heating and cooling system.
Second, assess your vehicle’s condition and the safety inspection results. Assessing your vehicle also can take into consideration whether you’re better off renting a vehicle appropriate to the weather conditions where you are traveling and leaving your own vehicle behind. Ask your mechanic for input on the pros and cons of renting vs. taking your own car.
Third, we advise fixing anything that could result in a safety issue – bald tires, low oil, worn wiper blades, thermostats, loose steering or anything else your mechanic is concerned about. By having the vehicle looked at in advance of your trip, you can have maintenance done and minor repairs completed in plenty of time for your winter travels.
And last, with the safety inspection completed, a vehicle assessment done and everything fixed, it’s time for the most important part of holiday travels: ENJOY your holidays and your time with family and friends during this special time of the year.
And, if you are still needing a few more stocking stuffers or gifts, take advantage of our current special offer of 10 percent off parts and labor through Dec. 31, 2016.
